Our Journey from Darkness to Light

Some bright stories are born from the darkness, and this is our story. It's a tale of determination, sustainability, and the pursuit of producing the best shrimp while caring for the environment. Join us as we take you through the significant milestones of our journey.

2005

In the aftermath of Hurricane Stan's devastating blow to the Mexican coast in 2005, we found ourselves standing amidst the ruins of what was once vibrant and thriving communities. The destructive impact of the hurricane shook us to our core, leaving a deep yearning to help these communities rebuild and find hope once again.

2006 - 2009

In 2006, a ray of hope emerged from the shadows of despair as the Vigas Foundation came into being. This new foundation was driven by a relentless dedication to aid the communities in their journey towards recovery. The foundation served as a guiding light, a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards rebuilding and renewal. It was here that our journey truly began, as the seeds of Agua Blanca were sown in the fertile soil of compassion, determination, and a shared dream for a brighter, more sustainable future.

2011 - 2012:

Our story starts in Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, where we established our first pilot farm. We ventured into multi-trophic aquaculture, raising tilapia and shrimp while pioneering nutrient recycling to reduce feed conversion rates.

2015:

n this chapter, we welcomed oceanographer and biofloc specialist, Andre Freietas. His expertise helped us establish robust production and water quality analysis protocols for our shrimp.

2016:

This year marked a milestone as we became the first shrimp farm in America to embrace biofloc technology at a commercial level, revolutionizing sustainable aquaculture practices

2017:

  • With the mission to conquer the U.S. market, Agua Blanca emerged as a brand.
  • In March we made our grand debut at the Seafood Expo North America.

2021:

In this remarkable year, we introduced groundbreaking Shrimpbox prototypes, a game-changer for shrimp farming. These containers can be deployed anywhere worldwide, allowing shrimp cultivation in various climates. Our achievement is a testament to pioneering technology and a significant breakthrough in aquaculture.

2022:

Our journey led us through the unforgiving winter of 2022, demonstrating the feasibility of producing local, fresh, and sustainable shrimp worldwide. In spring 2022, we proudly inaugurated our first Shrimpbox farm in the heart of Indianapolis, delivering the freshest shrimp across the United States. A remarkable achievement in bringing unparalleled freshness to American tables.

2023

  • Thriving Through Harsh Winters
We overcame extreme weather conditions to ensure our shrimp's survival and quality.

    Expanding Beyond Indianapolis
By July 2023, we proudly supplied chefs and restaurants in Chicago and beyond with the finest shrimp on the market. Taste the difference. añade in titulo para 2023
